Car Audio-A Whole New World

Car audio has gone wild these days. It seems every summer I find myself thinking mmm time to update my stereo with the newest and latest.
But then realize that once I get the latest and the best tomorrow there will be a replacement that will be newer and better.
Where will it stop!
I remember the time when you could buy a car stereo with 4 speakers and install it with nothing more than a few tools and some common sense. Things have changed a little since I was a teenager, when my highest priorty was to have the coolest and loudest car in school.
Of course we have experienced some real benefits from todays technology.
For one thing the installation looks a whole lot better not to mention more powerful amplification, better speakers and no more 8 track tape case to be hauled around in the back seat with a sign on it that reads:
“If you want to steal my stereo, here are some great tapes as well“
Yes we have come along way since the 60′snot only can you listen to your favorite music but you can now get personalized driving instructions from your GPS system and guess what they are verbal instructions, that means you never have to feel alone again when you are driving. Not to mention that we now have radios that are connected to satellites roaming in space that can send you not 6 or 10 AM stations but hundreds, if not thousands of radio signals from all over the world. You can make a phone call to your home to start the oven, or download your favorite music on your Ipod, dock it with your car audio system and walla the tunes you like in the order you like them and with no commercial interruptions.
These advances are wonderful but come with a cost for the average DIY guy although the system that we can purchase today is far less prone to breakdown than stereo equipment of days gone by, I have found myself asking some very puzzled questions like, how the heck do I install this equipment myself and make it look good? Wonder were I can get a tool that will reach that screw? How can I trouble shoot this new system and get back to my music? How come there are so many different adapters? What, no standard way of doing this anymore? Where on earth am I going to find that part? What now?
Well thanks for the Internet, a true treasure chest of information. After beating my head against the wall for the last time. I decided it was time to just do some research and start to gather the resources I had researched and compile them in one place.
